A relaxing cafe ideal study or work. The first floor is quite narrow and dark. However, head up to the second floor instead, which feels bright and spacious. Plenty of power outlets and the WiFi is extremely fast (300+ Mb/s). There's a large workable, several small table, and a small sofa area. Some of the seats are however not very comfortable (especially the bench seating by the large worktable). Also, there's a smoking room on the 2nd floor and you may notice the smell if someone is using it (normally not a problem though).
Easily one of the best places to work from in Tokyo. It's free to use, all you need is an AWS account to register. Plenty of comfortable seats, fast WiFi, lots of power outlets, and amazing views. There's a small cafe selling drinks and snacks, as well as a vending machine. It can get busy so be sure to arrive early to grab a seat.
Access:
- From the street, take the escalator up to the 3rd floor, following the signs to the office. AWS Loft guests can bypass reception, and proceed straight to the elevators by then following the signs for AWS Loft.
- Tell the guard at the elevators that you're going to AWS Loft, they will let you through the gate without a badge.
- In the elevator, proceed to the 17th floor where you will reach a reception area. Entering the space requires ID verification, such as by scanning a QR code from your registered account on the mobile website, and then presenting a business card or ID/passport to confirm a match.
- You will be given a lanyard to wear with your name, which you are expected to return upon your departure.
Signup: You'll need to register on their website before entering.
Space: The space looks really impressive with large windows offering amazing views of the surrounding area. There are different zones for working, relaxing, and meetings. There is also an "ask an AWS expert" corner, which is a fun concept. Lots of power outlets. There is music playing.
Seating: There are large shared work tables with soft and hard chairs. The soft chairs are really comfortable actually. There's also counter-style seating along the back wall, and couch-style seating along another wall. It can fill up quickly so it is best to arrive early.
Wifi: Excellent. 100 Mbit down. 150 Mbit up. 6-18ms ping.
Food/drinks: There is a coffee/tea machine and soft drinks for purchase, and some snacks for purchase as well. I usually just grab a Starbucks from downstairs instead.
Meeting rooms: There are several meeting rooms and phone booths that (I think) can be booked for free as well. I haven't really looked into it yet, though.
Overall: A really cool space, comfortable work area, good location right by Meguro station. The main drawback is that the space is only open from 10:00-18:00 Mon - Wed.
Great place to sit and get some work done. Be sure to arrive early to get a good seat. There's one large work table with pretty good chairs and power outlets. WiFi is decent. There's a Louisa coffee so you can get drinks and snacks. From the MRT follow the signs to HSR and then take the escalator up two floors.
A very popular coffee shop in Williamsburg. I've tried going several times to work but it's always been full. If you want a seat, be sure to arrive early (ideally before 9). Also, be prepared to queue up for ordering. The coffee was very good, and the tea was nice, but the cup size was very small (not sure if they do water refills). There are some snacks as well.
The interior is spacious, bright, and has a nice vibe. Even though it fills up very quickly it never got noisy. Plenty of power outlets along the wall side seats, and the WiFi is very fast (180+ Mbps).
A great cafe to work from on a weekday. Very calm and cozy interior. Relaxing music. Friendly staff. The tea selection is small compared to the coffee selection, but the oolong black tea is really good. There's lots of seating inside, as well as an outdoor area with shade and fans. Good WiFi and power outlets at some seats. My only complaint would be that it would be nice if all the seats had cushions. Starts to get busy around 3pm but usually doesn't get too crowded. There is a large nice outdoor seating area (smoking allowed).
A great place for remote workers in Tokyo. The location is good, right between Shibuya and Omotesando. The lobby space is large, with large worktables, individual tables, and even a large outdoor area, which is nice to use when the weather is good. Fast WiFi and plenty of power outlets. You can use the space for free, but you can also orders drinks in the bar (quite pricey though). There's also a small lobby shop selling some cheaper beverages and snacks. Mornings are usually pretty empty, but during the afternoon it fills up quickly!
A really nice cafe to work from. Good vibe, cozy interior, and normally very quiet. You can sit outside on the balcony (but smoking is allowed there). The entrance is a little difficult to find (the entrance is on the second floor of the building). Staff is friendly and food/drinks are good. Wifi can be very hit or miss. It can be slow and unstable at times, so it's good to have a backup mobile hot spot. Plenty of power outlets. Be sure to arrive early to get a good seat before it fills up. Cash only!
One of my favorite cafes in Daan. Nice interior and great atmosphere. The food and drinks are really good, but definitely on the expensive side. The WiFi is very fast and there are plenty of power outlets (although they encourage donations for using the power outlets, which is a little weird). Mornings are very quiet, but it usually gets pretty busy and noisy starting around lunch time and towards the afternoon.
I enjoy spending some time here to get some work done. Food/drink is expensive, so I recommend grabbing lunch here (which offers a food and drink combo).
There are counter seats and large work tables in the back. Fast WiFi (although it does slow down a bit when it fills up), and lots of power outlets. They even have Ethernet ports!
Weekends are quite popular, so it's good to arrive in the early afternoon before it fills up. There is a two hour time limit (per drink?), but doesn't seem to be strictly enforced. I guess when there's a queue they might ask you to leave.
