A large and spacious cafe near Harajuku station. Surprisingly not very crowded considering the area, but I guess the vibe is a bit "corporate-y" so it's probably not the most popular cafe for tourists. In any case, it's a great spot to sit and get some done. Fast wifi, and especially the counter seats are great if you need power.
A small and cozy coffee shop near Ginza station. There are counter style seats and some small tables (really only suitable for 1 person per table). The counter seats have power. Menu selection is quite small. There's coffee, but no regular caffine tea (only herbal or tea latte). The cookies are really good!
The cafe gives off a modern, clean, and possibly upscale vibe. The design is sleek with wood elements and exposed ceiling infrastructure, suggesting an industrial-chic aesthetic. The lighting is warm and inviting.
A great work spot not too far from Tokyo Station. There are two areas, a large room by the entrance, and another smaller room in the back. In the afternoon/evening the cafe was super quiet and great for working.
My only complaint would be that the chairs in the back room are not particularly comfortable for back support. I ended up using my backpack as an extra back support. Other than that, it's a great spot, and drink prices were surprisingly good as well.
A good cafe in Roppongi. It's large and spacious with plenty of seats. The table seats have power, but they're usually occupied unless you arrive early. The WiFi is fast and reliable. Drinks and food are quite pricey though. Note that laptops are not allowed after 6pm!
Definitely not the fanciest or coziest cafe, but if you're looking for a spot to work from in Shinjuku (even on a weekend) then this seems to be a pretty reliable place. There's very fast wifi and lots of power outlets. The large work table and the counter seats along the windows are nice to sit at.
A fairly small Blue Bottle coffee shop, but there's quite a lot of seating inside. There are some high tables when you first come in, and there's another large room with regular tables in the back. There's not much sound isolation, so it got very loud when it was busy with people talking. So this is probably best for early mornings or late evenings.
One of my favorite cozy coffee shops in Shimokitazawa. It's small, with only a couple of tables, and counter seats, so it's not really the type of place you'd hang out and work for too long. But if you're in the area and you want a nice drink and some desserts then this is a great spot. There's wifi and power outlets as well.
A great workable cafe near Shinjuku and Shin-Okubo. You'll have no problem finding seats on weekdays, especially during evenings. There's fast WiFi and some power outlets. The acoustics aren't great though, so it can be quite noisy (it's nice to have noise cancelling headphones here).
Tucked away on the 2nd floor above a clothes shop. Large seating space, with plenty of options. The large worktable with high chairs is nice for working. I only saw a single power outlet though. Also, there is WiFi but I had a lot of issues connecting to it. Once I was connected, it was too slow to use, so I ended up tethering from my phone instead. As someone who doesn't drink coffee, I was glad to see that they have black tea on the menu, which was brewed very properly!
The Starbucks Reserve Roastery near Nakameguro is a massive 4 story building, with each floor featuring a different theme. It can get quite busy, so if you want to use it as a work spot then early mornings or late evenings are the best option. The upper floors have plenty of seating options, and WiFi is available. I didn't see any power outlets, so be sure to arrive fully charged! Plenty of good food options and a large drink selection.
